You can help: Contact MPs this Fall
Essentially, CAI is an awareness drive – and we can all take part. If you are anaphylactic, or care for a loved one with severe allergies, then you can help make Canada a safer place.
Our families are asking everyone who wants to see government action on severe allergy issues to contact their local Member(s) of Parliament. Write. E-mail. Phone. Visit.
We encourage you to also write our champion in Parliament – MP Dean Allison. Dean is collecting personal stories and background information to help make presentation to his colleagues and to government officials. We work closely with Dean and hope to assist him in making the strongest possible arguments for a coordinated, comprehensive federal government response to anaphylaxis. Dean’s address is:
Dean Allison, M.P.
House of Commons
Parliament Hill
Ottawa,Ontario
K1A 0A6
You may also wish to consider contacting all or a few of the following MPs – all who have special duties in Ottawa relating to health. (These MPs all have the same address as Dean’s address. Remember, there is no postage necessary when mailing a letter to Parliament Hill!)
Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper Libby Davies
Health Minister, Hon. Leona Aglukkaq Malcolm Allen
Leader of NDP, Nycole Turmel Yvon Godin
Leader of Liberals, Hon. Bob Rae Hon. Hedy Fry
Colin Carrie Carolyn Bennett
Joy Smith
MPs want to hear your concerns, so tell them your story – talk about some of your challenges in trying to keep your loved ones safe. Ask for their support in advancing allergy issues in Ottawa. (We have produced a 5-point policy paper that outlines for MPs some action they can support. Here’s the pdf – http://cai-allergies.ca/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/CAI_5points.pdf )
Ask if we can count on their support for Motion 230. Also, promise to stay in touch with them. Then let the families at CAI know of your exchange with your MP(s). E-mail us at: cai.allergies@gmail.com and we will keep track and share our collective results via updates on this website.
